Jealous Rage Ends in Murder: Croydon Man Found Guilty
David Xavier, 38, has been found guilty of murdering his partner, Andreia Guilherme, in a savage attack fueled by jealousy and rage. The tragic stabbing happened in their Croydon home in December 2020, after Andreia tried to end their relationship.
Chilling Warnings Ignored
At the Old Bailey trial, the court heard how Xavier’s jealousy spiralled out of control. Andreia’s desperate voice notes and messages to friends and family revealed her growing fear. Prosecutor Paul Raudnitz KC told how Andreia recorded heated exchanges where Xavier accused her, in Portuguese, of cheating.
- She texted a cousin about Xavier picking up a knife.
- She told his sister he was “crazy” and had pointed a knife at her.
- Minutes before the attack, she warned a friend that Xavier was “coming after me with a knife.”
Brutal, Frenzied Knife Attack
The attack was vicious. Andreia suffered over 50 stab wounds, some tearing through ribs and damaging internal organs. She tried to defend herself, with defensive wounds found on her hands. Xavier’s violent rage left Andreia dead on their bedroom floor.
Soon after, Xavier called his sister and coldly admitted the killing. When she and her husband arrived, they found Xavier covered in blood, clutching the murder weapon.
Justice and a Warning
Xavier remains in custody and will be sentenced on Friday. This horrific case highlights the urgent need to tackle domestic violence and support victims before it’s too late.
