Convicted Tameside sex offender Steven Collins dies in prison
Predator Who Targeted Schoolgirls Dies Behind Bars
Steven Collins, branded a “dangerous predator” for attacking young girls in school uniform, has died while serving a prison sentence in Tameside. The 23-year-old was jailed in 2022 for multiple chilling sexual assaults on teenage girls. Authorities have confirmed his death but have not revealed how or when it happened.
Attacks on Vulnerable Girls Spark Outrage
Collins pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault against girls aged 13 to 15. The court heard he struck over several weeks, attacking two victims on buses and another outside a shop, all as the girls made their way home from school.
“You deliberately targeted girls in uniform. Your actions were predatory, calculated, and designed to cause fear and harm,”
the judge warned at sentencing. In one terrifying incident, Collins even threatened to kill a girl and stalked two victims to their homes, leaving them traumatised.
Seven-And-A-Half Years Behind Bars
Sentenced at 123 ramped up patrols near schools and launched a public safety appeal to reassure concerned parents.
Though Collins’ life ended behind bars, the impact of his predatory actions echoes still for those he harmed.
