Southport Groomer Jailed 14 Years for Sick Child Sex Crimes

David Eyre, 55, from Southport, has been locked up for 14 years plus five years on licence after admitting multiple horrific child sex offences against a young girl. The shocking crimes came to light following a major investigation by police and Eyre pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court today.

Horrific Crimes Uncovered by Online Child Abuse Team

The Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT) led the probe. After a detailed investigation, Eyre was charged with sexually assaulting a girl under 13, including penetration and inappropriate touching. He also faced three counts of taking and possessing indecent images. The appalling abuse spanned from 2021 to 2023.

Detective Reveals Gruesome Evidence Found

“Initially, a warrant was issued against Eyre. During a home search, we seized electronic devices containing explicit sexual photographs of a child,” said Detective Inspector Victoria Tinsley, who headed the investigation. “This discovery revealed even more disturbing and depraved acts committed against a vulnerable child.”

The mountain of evidence left Eyre with no option but to plead guilty, securing his conviction and swift sentencing.

Police Vow To Keep Fighting Child Abuse

Merseyside Police work hand-in-hand with UK and international agencies, including the Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre, to tackle offenders like Eyre. Detective Inspector Tinsley emphasised their commitment to pursuing justice no matter how long ago the abuse happened.

“Our Online Child Abuse Investigation team are specialist officers dedicated to hunting down predators and protecting children from unimaginable harm,” she said.

She also appealed for anyone affected to come forward. “If you have suffered sexual abuse or know a child at risk, please report it. We treat every report seriously and offer support with care and sensitivity.”
