Man Charged After Brutal Attack on Police Officer at Medway Station

Detective Assaulted at Police Front Counter

Samuel Tesefay launched a serious assault on a Kent Police detective right at Medway Police Station’s front desk. The shocking attack happened around 3pm on Friday, 10 May 2019.

Officer Hospitalised but Expected to Recover

The injured detective was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Thankfully, she is expected to make a full recovery.

Tesefay Charged and Remanded in Custody

Tesefay, 27, from Thicket Road, Penge, was arrested on suspicion of assault. He now faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 May 2019, where he was remanded in custody. Tesefay is due back in court on Monday, 10 June 2019, at Maidstone Crown Court.
