Delivery Driver Jailed for Shocking Child Sex Crimes in Peacehaven

A delivery driver from Peacehaven has been locked up for horrific sexual offences against two young girls. The nightmare began when a girl under five came forward in December 2021, revealing repeated sexual abuse.

Matthew Barca Arrested After Brave Victims Speak Out

Matthew Barca, 31, was arrested after the initial report. Further digging uncovered a second victim, now in her 20s, who said Barca assaulted her during her childhood too. The grim scale of his crimes soon became clear.

Harsh Sentencing: Jail, Sex Offender Register & Lifetime Restrictions

  • Barca was convicted of multiple charges including sexual assault, rape of a child under 13, and possession of 123 indecent images.
  • He now faces an extended prison sentence with time on recall license due to the danger he poses to the public.
  • An indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order bans him from contacting children or using digital devices unsupervised.
  • He is registered as a sex offender and given restraining orders to protect his victims.

Police Urge Victims to Come Forward

“Matthew Barca is a committed, dangerous offender who preyed on two innocent young girls in the most appalling ways,” said Detective Constable Stewart Cameron.

“Thanks to their bravery and determination, we have been able to bring him to justice and help protect other vulnerable children.

“If you or someone you know has been a victim of a sexual offence, no matter how long ago, please report it to us. We will believe you, we will support you and we will do all we can to get you justice.

“Report online, via 101 or dial 999 in an emergency.”

This case is a grim reminder of the scourge of child abuse and the vital role police play in fighting back.
