Drug Dealer Uses Married Name Passport to Sneak Back into UK

A Polish drug dealer, booted out of Britain, tried a risky trick to slip back into the country — all to save her marriage, a court heard.

Karolina Grochowska, 32, was jailed for 33 months for cocaine possession with intent to supply. She was released early and deported in June 2023. But just five months later, on November 2, she was caught attempting to re-enter the UK at Holyhead ferry port in Anglesey.

This time, Grochowska used a passport with her married surname, Mroczek, hoping to dodge detection.

Desperate Bid to Reunite with Husband in London

Grochowska admitted she travelled with someone else’s passport, breaking her deportation order from June.

Her lawyer, Elen Owen, revealed the shocking motive: Grochowska was desperate to reunite with her husband of three years, a forklift driver based in London.

“It was a desperate attempt to try and save her marriage. She had pleaded with him to return to Poland to no avail,” Ms Owen said.

Ms Owen added Grochowska showed genuine remorse and sincerely apologised for her actions.

Fake Identity Quickly Exposed by Officials

Despite the passport appearing genuine, immigration officers spotted the ID number linked to her maiden name, immediately unmasking her true identity.

Prosecutor Dylan Wagg told Caernarfon Crown Court Grochowska had been refused entry twice before.

Judge Nicola Jones condemned her blatant defiance of the deportation order, handing her another six months behind bars.

The judge warned Grochowska faces almost certain re-deportation once this sentence is served.

Holyhead Ferry Port a Hotspot for Illegal Re-Entries

Grochowska’s case adds to a mounting problem of foreign nationals trying to sneak into the UK from Ireland via Holyhead.

With a teenage son back in Poland but deep ties to London, Grochowska’s stunt sheds light on border security flaws and the lengths deportees go to for a second chance in Britain.
