Knife-wielding thug terrorises mum and 13-year-old boy in broad daylight
Shocking High Street attack
Detectives have released a CCTV image of a dangerous man wanted for an attempted robbery and GBH on High Street North on Sunday, 23 April. Police are desperate for the public’s help to ID the suspect.
Mother and son face terrifying ordeal
The horror began when a 13-year-old boy was confronted by a lone man demanding money near the Primark car park. The boy’s mum, in her 30s, spotted the threat and heroically pulled her son away.
Knife threat escalates violence
Tragically, when they returned to the same spot shortly after 7.24pm, the thug appeared again. The brave mother approached the man, who then brandished a knife, waving it wildly. The woman suffered a cut above her ear before the suspect made a swift escape towards Kempton Road.
Urgent appeal to public
Police conducted a thorough search but the dangerous criminal escaped. Detective Constable Sam Drury, leading the case, said: “This was a horrible attack on a woman and her son, and it is vital that we track this man down.”
The injured woman was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, the boy escaped physical harm but was left deeply shaken.
Police urge the public to share the released image far and wide. Any tip-offs could be crucial in bringing this menace to justice.
