Dorset Cop Charged with Murder After Woman’s Death
A Dorset Police officer has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in West Parley. The dramatic incident unfolded on Saturday 9 May 2020 at 3.39pm, when Dorset Police were called to the Horns Inn car park on Christchurch Road after ambulance crews reported two people needing urgent medical help.
Tragic Death of Claire Parry
The victim, 41-year-old Claire Parry from Bournemouth, was rushed to Royal Bournemouth Hospital but succumbed to her injuries the next morning, Sunday 10 May. A post-mortem revealed she died from a brain injury caused by compression of the neck.
Officer Arrested and Charged
- Timothy Brehmer, 41, the man arrested at the scene, is a Dorset Police constable seconded to the National Police Air Service (NPAS).
- He was treated for arm injuries at Poole Hospital before being released.
- After Mrs. Parry’s death, Brehmer was re-arrested and formally charged with murder on Monday 11 May.
- He was off-duty during the incident and will appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court via remote link on Tuesday 12 May.
- An Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) referral has been made due to the seriousness of the charge and his role as a police officer.
