Man to Be Freed After Brutal Double Murder of Teens on Isle of Man
Peter Newbery, who slaughtered two teenage pals in cold blood back in 2004, could soon walk free. He was jailed for life after strangling and stabbing 16-year-olds Samantha Barton and George Green at a halfway house on the Isle of Man. Chillingly, he sexually assaulted them both before and after their deaths.
Life Sentence with Minimum 20 Years: But Release Looms
Newbery was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 20 years. Thanks to time spent on remand, he could be out soon – all hinging on the parole board’s nod. The killer has shown “no remorse” for the horrific attack.
Drugs Dispute Ends in Murder
The savage attack stemmed from a drugs row. Samantha Barton, who had spina bifida, had invited George Green, Newbery, and another friend for a smoke-up at her home. She falsely boasted about having crack cocaine, which Newbery wanted badly.
Later, Newbery came back, attacking the pair with brutal force. He stabbed and strangled them with shoelaces, before sexually assaulting the victims both before and after killing them.
Evidence Ties Newbery to the Crime Scene
- Barton’s body was abandoned at Leece Lodge.
- Green’s body was dumped in nearby scrubland.
- DNA bloodstains on shoelaces linked Newbery directly to the murders.
This terrifying double murder still haunts the Isle of Man, with questions now swirling over the killer’s possible release.
