Drink-Driver Jailed for Deadly 110mph Crash That Killed Couple

A reckless drink-driver who mowed down and killed two locals in a high-speed smash has been locked up. Benjamin Bosden, 20, had alcohol levels way over the legal limit and was roaring at more than 110mph on the A267 near Cross-In-Hand when tragedy struck back in September 2017.

Two Loved Ones Lost in Horrific Crash

The victims, David and Linda Evans, were well-known and loved in their community. Family described them as “a shining example of a fun-loving pair with a zest for life.” Bosden’s Mini Countryman careered violently into the opposite lane, smashing head-on into a Ford Ranger carrying the couple. David and Linda died at the scene.

David and Linda’s 18-year-old passenger survived but suffered life-threatening injuries requiring emergency surgery.

Speedo Stuck at 112mph – Total Madness

The collision happened just before midnight on 9 September 2017. The Mini’s speedometer was found jammed at a ludicrous 112mph — nearly double the 60mph speed limit on that stretch.

After a guilty plea for causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, Bosden faced justice at Lewes Crown Court.

Judge Slams ‘Flagrant Disregard’ for Life

Judge Christine Laing QC sentenced Bosden to five years behind bars. She blasted his “ludicrous speed” and noted alcohol was a “significant part” of the crash. “You showed a flagrant disregard for the rules of the road and utter disregard for the serious danger you posed to others,” she said.

PC Shirley Ross from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit warned: “This case is a stark warning, especially to young drivers — never drink and drive. Simple as that.”

Had Bosden not thrown caution to the wind, two families wouldn’t be left devastated today.
