Toddler Hit by Car in Liverpool, Driver Arrested

A three-year-old boy was hit by a car on Smithdown Road, Liverpool, on Friday afternoon. He was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and is now in a stable condition.

Driver Arrested on Dangerous Driving Charges

The driver, a 47-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs. He is currently in police custody assisting with inquiries.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The crash happened near the Hartington Road junction at around 3:30 p.m. Police quickly responded, found the injured child, and closed the road for several hours during their investigation.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson urged: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact us.”

The road has since reopened as investigations continue.
