Nigel Butler Faces Serious Charges
Nigel Butler, 57, of The White House, Headcorn Road, Maidstone, has formally pleaded not guilty to two counts of death by dangerous driving. The charges relate to a tragic crash on October 15, 2020, on the M26 coast-bound carriageway near Wrotham.
Two Fatalities in Horrific Crash
- The first charge involves the death of David Boaler, caused by Butler driving a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on the road.
- The second charge is linked to the death of Reece Watson in the same incident, involving an LDV Maxus driven dangerously by Butler.
Both charges are brought under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
Trial Set to Begin at Maidstone Crown Court
The trial is scheduled to start on Monday at Maidstone Crown Court and is expected to last five days. The case revisits a tragic event that shook Kent nearly two years ago.
