Prolific Burglar and Drug Dealer Locked Up in Hastings
Nicholas Huggins, 36, a known troublemaker, has been jailed for more than four years after a spree of burglaries and drug dealing in Hastings.
Caught Red-Handed in Drug Deal
On 3 December 2023, police spotted Huggins acting suspiciously outside a Mount Pleasant Road address. Thirty minutes later, officers followed him as he left the same spot and witnessed what looked like a drug deal on Hughenden Road.
When they detained him, Huggins dropped a bag containing 16 wraps of crack cocaine. A search of his home uncovered large quantities of crack cocaine and heroin.
Burglaries While on Bail
Despite being on bail for the drugs offence, Huggins went on a burglary rampage between 21 March and 6 April. His attempts included:
- 21 March – Tried to break into two separate stores on High Street, causing £400 worth of door damage but failed to get inside.
- 31 March – Forced entry into a business on St Andrews Market and stole a mobile phone.
- 6 April – Smashed a window at a Queens Road store and made off with four laptops.
Judge Sends Huggins Down for Over Four Years
Huggins pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, two counts of attempted burglary, and two counts of burglary. He also admitted to 25 other burglaries in the Hastings area.
He was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on 9 October to four years and two months behind bars. Hastings can breathe a little easier with this dangerous offender off the streets.
