Tragic Quad Bike Crash Claims Life of Beloved Country Girl Near King Charles’ Estate
The family of 22-year-old Gracie Vater has paid a heartfelt tribute after she tragically died in a quad bike accident near King Charles’ Highgrove Estate. The young “country girl” suffered severe injuries when she fell off a quad bike that overturned shortly after 2pm on Saturday, December 23.
Gracie Dies on Christmas Day After Serious Injuries
Rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, Gracie sadly passed away on Christmas Day. The crash happened on Whitehouse Lane in the quiet Cotswolds village of Shipton Moyne, near Tetbury — less than two miles from the Prince and Camilla’s Highgrove House.
Family’s Emotional Tribute to ‘Beautiful Darling Gracie’
In a touching statement, Gracie’s family described her as their “beautiful darling” whose life “will never be the same without her.” They remembered her as kind, caring, and always ready to help others. Gracie had a huge love for animals, especially dogs, pigs, and cows, and embraced her rural home with a big heart.
“A country girl with the biggest heart and a huge love for animals, especially dogs, pigs, and cows. Our lives will never be the same without her, but we take comfort in knowing that Gracie is with her beloved dad. We ask that all of Gracie’s family be given privacy during this horrific time.”
Police Launch Hunt After Man Flees Quad Bike Crash Scene
Following the accident, a man fled the scene on a quad bike, sparking a police search involving a helicopter. Another man was arrested later. Two men aged 29 and 30 from the Cotswolds have now been released on bail with strict conditions and must return to police in February as investigations continue.
Emergency air ambulance crews were called to the scene after Gracie was dragged along the narrow lane bordered by fields and woodland when the quad bike overturned. Another quad bike was also involved in the incident.
Police Appeal for Witnesses to Aid Investigation
The road reopened after a forensic collision investigation concluded around 10pm. Authorities are urging anyone who saw the crash or the quad bike driven before the incident to contact Gloucestershire Police, quoting incident number 251 of December 23.
