Massive Blaze Tears Through Blackburn Industrial Estate
Firefighters from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are battling a huge fire at a commercial site on Shadsworth Industrial Estate, Blackburn. The blaze, involving large amounts of plastic, sparked a full multi-agency response to stop it spreading and limit damage.
Smoke Warning as Fire Rages On
By 11:00 am, crews had scaled back to four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. They’ve slashed the thick smoke plume, but contractors digging through the plastic heap may cause smoke to shift in volume and colour.
Local residents and drivers have been urged to keep windows and doors shut if they spot or smell smoke to avoid breathing problems.
