DJ, 27, Charged with Stabbing Woman to Death in Rainham
Jason Burnett, 27, a DJ from Chatham, is accused of fatally stabbing 55-year-old Lesley Spearing at her home in Miers Court Road, Rainham.
Arrest Made After Fatal Stabbing
Kent Police rushed to the scene on Thursday, 10 October 2019 at 8:32pm. Despite efforts from officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, Lesley was declared dead at the property.
A post-mortem confirmed she died from a stab wound.
Burnett Appears in Court, No Bail Granted
Burnett appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court wearing a grey prison-issue sweatshirt. No bail application was made, and the case was committed to Maidstone Crown Court for trial.
He was arrested shortly after the incident on Rainham High Street. Police’s Serious Crime Directorate is leading the murder investigation. Burnett was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, 14 October.
