Baby Found Dead in Woods: Two Charged with Manslaughter
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have charged two people after a baby’s body was discovered in a wooded area of Brighton.
Constance Marten and Mark Gordon Facing Serious Charges
Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, both with no fixed address, were charged on the evening of Thursday, 2 March. They face gross negligence manslaughter, concealing the birth of a child, and perverting the course of justice.
They are set to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 3 March, appearing in custody.
Details of the Tragic Discovery
Officers found the baby’s body during a search of the Hollingbury area on Wednesday, 1 March. The infant has yet to be formally identified. A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday, 3 March.
