Brutal London Machete Murder: Owens-Wright Found Guilty, Manhunt On for Second Attacker
Christopher Owens-Wright Convicted of Murder
At Inner London Crown Court on Monday, 4 July, 23-year-old Christopher Owens-Wright from Chatsworth Road, E15, was found guilty of murdering Michael Fadeyibi, also 23. Owens-Wright also faces charges related to a savage attack on a second man.
Sentencing is due on a date yet to be announced.
Police Hunt Ryan Igbinovia Over Deadly Attack
Detectives are urgently looking for 26-year-old Ryan Igbinovia, believed to be the accomplice in the machete assault that left Michael dead.
“Christopher Owens-Wright has been found guilty of murder,” said Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen. “We are asking for the public’s help to find Ryan Igbinovia, who helped chase and attack Michael and his friend. Michael’s family has been devastated and they deserve justice.”
Fatal Chase Through East London Streets
The horrific attack unfolded in the early hours of 6 August 2021 on Henniker Road, E15. Owens-Wright and Igbinovia chased Michael and a companion, both armed with machetes.
When they caught Michael, Owens-Wright stabbed him multiple times in a vicious assault that left the victim dead at the scene. Michael’s friend was also stabbed but survived with minor injuries.
Evidence Trails Lead to Owens-Wright’s Arrest
- Owens-Wright fled to Nottingham but was caught two days after the attack.
- Officers found his DNA on a small knife recovered at the scene, linking him directly to the fight.
- Forensic data matched movements on Owens-Wright’s phone to CCTV footage of the chase.
- Police uncovered a box at his Newham home containing an invoice for three machetes; although not under his name, Owens-Wright’s fingerprints were on the paperwork.
Owens-Wright stayed silent during police interviews but was charged with murder and attempted murder on overwhelming evidence.
