Ex-Met Cop Caught Sharing Secret Police Files

Former Officer Guilty of Computer Misuse

Daniel Humphreys, 38, a former Metropolitan Police officer, has been found guilty of misconduct in public office (MIPO). Humphreys illegally accessed and shared sensitive police data for personal reasons. The conviction came down at Southwark Crown Court after a dramatic trial.

The Scandal Unfolded

Humphreys met a vulnerable woman during an assault investigation involving her ex-partner. After taking her statement at her home, he overstepped the mark. He handed over confidential police information, including crime reports and victims’ details — none related to her case.

Justice on the Horizon

While he was cleared of a second charge involving an inappropriate relationship with the woman, Humphreys now faces sentencing on 3 October. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched the probe into his actions back on 3 October 2025.
