Four Teens Jailed After Savage Knife Attack on Southeastern Train

Four young men have been locked up following a brutal knife assault on a Southeastern train that left a 19-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds. The shocking attack took place on November 21 last year around 7:30 pm, on the service travelling from Grove Park to St John’s.

Attack on Moving Train

The gang – Rowan Jones, Jahvarn Warren, Kumarl Best, and Rahim Al-Kamara – got on at Grove Park. When the victim boarded at Hither Green, he was immediately targeted. Rowan Jones and Jahvarn Warren grabbed the victim’s coat and slapped him. Then, Kumarl Best pulled out a 17-inch knife and stabbed him repeatedly.

Despite the victim collapsing, the attackers continued kicking and punching him while Jones filmed the violent rampage. After the assault, the group returned to their seats as the injured man managed to hobble to another carriage, collapsing with wounds to his thigh and hands.

Evidence and Arrests

Police apprehended the four suspects days later. Officers found the bloodied 17-inch blade at Best’s home, confirming the gruesome weapon used in the attack. The attackers fled at St John’s station, leaving the victim to receive public aid before being rushed to hospital with severe wounds.

Sentences Handed Down

  • Kumarl Best, 19, admitted causing grievous bodily harm and carrying an offensive weapon. He received 31 months in a young offenders institution.
  • Rowan Jones, 21, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, affray, and weapon possession. He was sentenced to 21 months.
  • Jahvarn Warren, 19, admitted similar charges and got 18 months.
  • Rahim Al-Kamara, 21, pleaded guilty to affray and received 17 months.

Police Speak Out on Brutal Assault

DC Danny Nelson called the attack “brutal and senseless”: “The victim was lucky not to suffer even worse injuries. Their frenzied assault showed clear intent to cause serious harm. Carrying a deadly weapon like this in public endangers lives.”

DCI Paul Attwell added: “This complex investigation highlights the ongoing knife crime crisis. We won’t stop fighting to bring offenders to justice.”

This terrifying incident underscores the dangerous reality of knife crime on UK public transport. British Transport Police urge anyone witnessing suspicious behaviour to report it immediately to help keep communities safe.
