Four Arrested After Weapons Brawl Rocks Tunstill Square
Police were scrambled shortly after 6pm last Sunday (September 25) following reports of a huge fight involving weapons at Tunstill Square car park. The scene was chaotic, with a large group of men throwing blows and wielding weapons in broad daylight.
Suspects Bailed as Investigation Ramps Up
After a swift investigation, cops have arrested four men linked to the violent fracas. The suspects are:
- 24-year-old from Nelson
- 27-year-old from Nelson
- 28-year-old from Brierfield
- 24-year-old from Blackburn
All four were arrested on suspicion of affray and have since been bailed pending further inquiries. Police are still hunting for others involved in the brawl.
Top Cop Vows to Crack Down on Street Violence
“This was a serious incident involving a large group of men armed with weapons fighting in public and it is only a matter of good fortune that no-one was seriously hurt,” said Chief Inspector Marie Jackson of East Police.
“We simply will not tolerate violence of this nature on our streets. We have made a number of arrests and will continue to try to identify those responsible so we can bring them to justice.”
Chief Insp Jackson also praised the community for coming forward and urged anyone with info or footage to make contact.
