  2. Perverting the Course of Justice: Allegedly filed a false report about a search at a Kenilworth Road flat in Dublin 6 on 19 June 2021, with related offences between 25 August and 15 September 2021.
  3. Theft: Linked to thefts at two different flats—one on Kenilworth Road on 19 June and another at Mountjoy Square in Dublin 1 on 7 September 2021.
  4. Intent to Pervert Justice: Charged with tampering with data on the Garda Pulse system on 27 September 2021.
  5. Twice Perverting Public Justice: Accused of fabricating and printing search warrant documents and creating false Garda Pulse incident records related to the Kenilworth Road search on 28 August 2021.

Next Steps: Court Appearance Set for May

Judge William Aylmer confirmed the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered the case to proceed to trial. Whelan remains out on bail and is due back in court on 17 May, when prosecutors will lay out the evidence against him.

This case shines a harsh spotlight on potential corruption within Garda ranks, with serious implications for public trust in law enforcement across Ireland.
