Man Charged with Murder After Woman Found Dead in Gillingham

Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of a woman in Gillingham. Kent Police were called to a Richmond Road property at 4.51pm on Thursday, 16 January 2020.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene, where a 39-year-old woman was sadly declared dead.

Murder Probe Launched, Suspect Arrested

Just 14 minutes later, at 5.05pm, Benjamin Bowler, 40, from Richmond Road, was arrested. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate immediately launched a murder investigation.

Victim and Suspect Known to Each Other

Officers confirmed the victim and Bowler were known to each other. On Sunday 19 January, the Crown Prosecution Service officially charged Bowler with murder.

He remains in custody and is set to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 January.
