Heroic Passenger Fights for Life After Stopping Drunken Train Rampage
Kenyon Dobie, 24, is in critical condition after stepping in to calm a rowdy, drunk man on a Charlotte, North Carolina light rail. The passenger was stabbed in the chest during the Friday night chaos.
Attack by Twice-Deported Offender Shocks Charlotte
The attacker, 33-year-old Oscar Solorzano, a Honduran national living illegally in the US, pulled a knife and stabbed Dobie. Homeland Security’s Assistant Secretary Tricia Lockwood revealed Solorzano had been deported twice already and had illegally re-entered a third time.
In Monday’s court hearing, prosecutors exposed Solorzano’s chilling rap sheet. The thug was banned from the Charlotte light rail and has a history including aggravated battery, robbery, resisting arrest, using false ID, and multiple illegal border re-entries.
Drunk Suspect Caught Moments After Stabbing
- Solorzano tried to flee but police caught him soon after the attack
- He reeked of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes at the time of arrest
- The 33-year-old allegedly admitted stabbing Dobie when questioned
He now faces heavy felony charges, including first-degree attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering, and carrying a concealed weapon. Solorzano is being held without bond.
Victim Battles for Life as Community Rallies
Kenyon Dobie remains hospitalised in critical condition. On a GoFundMe page titled “Healing Support for Blue Line Stabbing Survivor,” Dobie wrote: “My body has taken plenty of damage. Have a tube running from my chest to a machine pumping blood out of my lungs.”
The fundraiser has raised over £2,300 towards a £21,000 target to cover medical bills.
This terrifying attack comes just four months after another fatal stabbing on the Charlotte light rail, sparking furious debates over public transit safety and immigration enforcement.
