One Year On From Sean Fox’s Brutal Murder – Police Make Fresh Plea
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team are ramping up efforts to crack the cold case of Sean Fox. The 42-year-old was shot dead in broad daylight at a west Belfast sports club last October, and as the grim anniversary looms, cops are begging the public for any leads.
Masked Gunmen Rode In, Fired 20 Shots, Then Biked Away
Sean Fox was gunned down at around 2:25pm on October 2, 2022, after two masked men stormed the Donegal Celtic Sports and Social Club on Suffolk Road, west Belfast. They wasted just 21 seconds inside, firing 20 rounds in a calculated hit. Sean was hit fatally while sitting in a busy function room, surrounded by witnesses stunned by the shocking execution.
Detective Chief Superintendent Issues Emotional Appeal
“Our thoughts are very much with the Fox family today, one year on from the murder of Sean,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Eamonn Corrigan. “They are desperately hoping that those responsible for murdering Sean will be brought to justice, and today I am making a renewed appeal for information.”
The killers escaped on bicycles, weaving through west Belfast neighbourhoods. Police have descriptions of the suspects and their bikes, appealing for any scraps of info, no matter how small.
“This was a calculated, planned, ruthless execution carried out in broad daylight and in front of a number of people. It was a barbaric act, and one year on, the family of Mr Fox remains grief-stricken,” Corrigan added.
£20,000 Reward Offered to Crack the Case
Police want anyone who was at the social club or saw the gunmen arrive or leave to speak up now. You can call 101 or give anonymous tips to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. The charity is dangling a £20,000 reward for info that leads to an arrest and conviction in Sean Fox’s murder.
The community’s help could finally bring justice to this brutal daylight killing.
