Drugged and Raped: Romanian Man Jailed Over Shocking Marble Arch Attack
Eight Years Behind Bars for Carol Simon
Carol Simon, 45, a Romanian with no fixed address, has been locked up for eight years and five months at Isleworth Crown Court. He confessed to drugging, sexually assaulting, and robbing a man in a vile attack near Marble Arch.
Victim Lured Home After Taxi Offer
On 24 March 2019, Simon was spotted loitering outside The City of Quebec pub on Old Quebec Street, Westminster. He approached a man in his 50s and asked to share a taxi. The victim agreed, none the wiser.
Once at the victim’s home, Simon forced his way in, slipped the man a date-rape drug, sexually assaulted him, and stole his wallet, watch, and phone.
DNA Match Cracks Case Wide Open
Police launched an investigation after the victim bravely came forward. Detectives traced Simon through a DNA match. He was arrested on 4 April 2019, back near the same pub.
Officers found a small bottle of liquid Simon claimed were eye drops. Tests revealed the substance was actually Diazepam — a powerful sedative.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery
“The victim has been incredibly brave throughout this ordeal and it is because of his courage that Simon is behind bars where he belongs,” said Detective Constable Sophie McLoughlin.
“Simon set out that night to harm someone for his cowardly gain. His actions were completely evil and he will never know the trauma he has caused.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and speak to us. We will support you.”
