Princes Road, Gravesend residents breathe a sigh of relief as a troublesome property continues to be locked down following an extension of a closure order for another three months.

Hotspot for Crime and Chaos

The property had been at the centre of persistent antisocial behaviour and criminal activity, sparking outrage among locals. Kent Police were flooded with complaints about violence and drug dealing taking place at the site.

Back in January 2025, cops won a closure order at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court, forcing the property to be secured and emptied. Since then, anyone caught trying to break in faces fines or even jail.

Closure Order Extended to Keep Peace

On Friday 4 April, officers returned to court to secure a three-month extension. This allows Gravesham Borough Council extra time to formally take control of the problematic building. The court approved the extension, maintaining strict penalties for trespassers.

Police and Community Praise Action

Sergeant Steve Cole of Kent Police said:

“The offensive conduct connected to this address included violence and drug dealing. The residents were greatly distressed, and we’ve worked closely with the council to resolve the issue.”

“We’re monitoring other addresses in Gravesham and won’t hesitate to act against persistent crime and antisocial behaviour anywhere else spoiling community life.”

A relieved neighbour added:

“It’s been a nightmare living near that house. Hopefully, this extension gives the council enough time to sort things out for good.”

Next Moves and Zero Tolerance

With the closure order in place, Gravesham Borough Council will now move to formally take possession and either rehabilitate or repurpose the property, preventing further disturbances.

Kent Police remain firm on their zero tolerance approach to drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour. They urge anyone experiencing issues to report them via 101 or the Kent Police website.

Police and council teams continue to target other trouble spots in Gravesham. More updates on the clean-up efforts will follow as the council works through the property takeover.
