Young Driver Busted with Massive Haul of Class A Drugs in Sutton
22-Year-Old Nabbed in Drug and Driving Crackdown
A 22-year-old driver from Greenwich has been slammed with 16 months behind bars after cops caught him with a large stash of Class A drugs during a traffic stop. Gideon Adu, from Plumstead Common Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin, as well as driving without a licence or insurance.
Suspicious Driving Sparks Police Sting
The drama unfolded on June 24 in Hardwick Lane, Sutton in Ashfield, when officers spotted Adu’s dodgy driving. They tailed him and ran his details through the Police National Computer. Adu couldn’t even give a date of birth when asked.
Police quickly discovered he had no insurance and no driving licence. A search of the car unearthed a bag under the driver’s seat packed with around 400 wraps—about 300 cocaine and 100 heroin packets. Officers also seized mobile phones and cash.
Police Praise Sharp Policing in Drug Bust
Police Constable Joshua Ashton said: “Drug offences are incredibly serious and we thoroughly investigate all reports made to Nottinghamshire Police. This was excellent policing by the officers who spotted Adu driving suspiciously.”
He added: “Drugs ruin lives and fuel violent crimes that devastate communities. We’re always working hard to hunt down dealers and bring them to justice.”
