Bag Snatcher On The Loose After Shocking Ryde Robbery
Police are hunting for witnesses after a brazen robbery in Ryde, Isle of Wight. At around 8.10pm on Saturday, September 24, a woman was strolling down Nelson Street towards Castle Street when a thug grabbed her bag from behind and yanked it hard.
The 53-year-old victim toppled backwards as the crook fled up Nelson Street clutching her bag and its contents. He was last seen wearing dark clothes, a black baseball cap, and a red bandana covering the lower half of his face.
Two Arrested But Police Still Want Witnesses
Officers have already arrested two men linked to the incident. A 19-year-old from Ryde has been bailed until October 16, while a 34-year-old local is on bail until November 11.
However, police are still calling for anyone who saw the robbery or spotted a man matching the description near the upper end of Nelson Street to come forward.
Detective Constable Issues Urgent Appeal
“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area of Nelson Street at the time of this incident,” said Detective Constable Angela Gore. “If anyone saw a man fitting the description walking up Nelson Street, with or without a handbag, please get in touch.”
