Masked Robber Strikes Ryde Convenience Store, Hits Staff and Snatches Cash
A scary armed robbery unfolded at the Ryde Co-Operative on the Isle of Wight last night. Just before 10.20pm, a masked thug barged into the convenience store on Somerset Road, Elmfield, and made off with the takings.
Violent Hold-Up in Broad Daylight
The brazen robber smashed the counter and landed a blow on a staff member while terrified customers looked on. Before fleeing, he swiped cash and other goods. A quick-thinking customer gave chase but the crook got away.
Police Hunt Man with Tribal Tattoo
Officers swooped on the store, gathering CCTV footage and forensic evidence to ID the shocked attacker. A staff member was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital with a cut to the eye.
The suspect is described as:
- White male, mid-30s
- 5’7-8” tall, stocky build
- Black balaclava, black round-neck t-shirt, dark or green trousers
- Distinct tribal tattoo on lower arm
