Harrow Pedo Florin Trifan Slapped with 20-Year Jail Term for Horror Rapes
A Harrow man has been locked up for 20 years after terrifying a vulnerable woman with multiple rapes and sexual assaults. Florin Calin Trifan, 40, preyed on a young woman with learning and physical disabilities at her own home.
Multiple Offences Against Vulnerable Victim
Trifan’s crimes unfolded between January 2015 and January 2016 against the woman, who is in her 20s and has learning disabilities. The full extent of his attacks remains unclear, but he was found guilty of repeated rape and sexual assault at Harrow Crown Court on 9 March.
Known to Victim’s Family – Arrested After Support Worker Alert
Trifan was known to the victim and her family, making his abuse even more appalling. The victim finally confided in a support worker in January 2016, sparking the police investigation. Officers from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command swooped and arrested him on 29 January 2016.
Harsh Sentence and Strict Sexual Harm Order Imposed
On 25 April, Trifan was handed a 20-year imprisonment term. Plus, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order bans him from working with or residing alongside any females with learning disabilities. He must also never be left unsupervised with such vulnerable individuals.
“Trifan controlled and manipulated the victim throughout his campaign of offences against her, causing her, and subsequently her family, considerable torment,” said DC Angie Meadows from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command.
“Throughout the investigation he has maintained that his behaviour was merely that of a ‘weak man’. The sentencing today reflects the seriousness of the offences and that Trifan poses a risk of serious harm to the public.”
