Man Jailed Over Five Years for Sex Offences Against Teen in Crawley
Sex Offender Locked Up
Morakile Kosi, 33, has been sentenced to 67 months behind bars for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in Crawley. The unemployed man from Barn Field Terrace, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child at Lewes Crown Court on Monday 28 September.
Kosi will be registered as a sex offender indefinitely and slapped with a strict Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The order bans him from having any contact with girls under 16 unless a court says otherwise. He denied raping the girl, but that charge was put on hold.
Detective Slams Grooming
“Kosi befriended the vulnerable teenager through mutual contacts and deliberately placed her in a powerless situation for his own gratification,” said Detective Constable Helen Rainbow.
“The victim showed great courage in reporting the crime, and I hope others in similar situations will come forward. Sussex Police takes these offences very seriously,” she added.
Warning Over Grooming
Detective Rainbow warned that grooming targets young people’s vulnerabilities, and “grooming is not consent.”
