Doncaster Man Jailed for Stalking Online Victim
Nathanial Elsmore, 22, from Hexthorpe, Doncaster, has been slapped with a seven-year jail term for tormenting a woman he met online. Sheffield Crown Court found him guilty of stalking that included causing fear of violence.
Nine Months of Abuse Through Fake Accounts
Elsmore harassed the victim for nine months, from October 2022 to July 2023. He bombarded her with abusive messages using multiple fake social media profiles. His threats included self-harm, suicide, and even murder. He didn’t stop there—Elsmore also targeted her friends to ramp up the intimidation.
Police Praise Victim and Warn Off Other Offenders
“The victim showed incredible courage throughout this ordeal,” said Detective Constable Alexandra Owen, who led the investigation. “With Elsmore behind bars, we hope she can now rebuild her life. This case sends a clear message: we will bring perpetrators to justice and fight all forms of violence against women and girls.”
Alongside his prison sentence, Elsmore faces a 10-year restraining order banning any contact with the victim, directly or indirectly—including via social media.
Speak Out: Police Urge Stalking Victims to Report Abuse
DC Owen urged anyone suffering stalking or harassment to speak up. “Victims must not stay silent or feel ashamed. The blame is always on the offender.”
If you are being stalked, report it to the police online or by calling the non-emergency number, 101. For emergencies, dial 999 immediately.
