Hull Prison Locked Down After Birmingham Riot Spillover
HM Prison Hull is on full lockdown after 15 inmates, transferred from riot-hit HM Prison Birmingham, attacked staff and tried to spark another riot. Reports say the prisoners torched CCTV cameras as chaos unfolded.
Volatile Situation at Hull Jail
Sources reveal the scene inside Hull is extremely tense but still somewhat contained. Mike Rolfe of the Prison Officers Association said trouble flared soon after the Midlands inmates arrived at the Category B jail.
“We understand 15 prisoners were transferred to Hull and one of those prisoners, thought to be involved in inciting the riots at Birmingham, assaulted a senior officer yesterday,” Rolfe said.

The Hull unrest comes on the back of a brutal 12-hour riot at HMP Birmingham last Friday—hailed as the worst prison riot since Strangeways 25 years ago.
MP Blames Government for Prison Chaos
Karl Turner, Labour MP for Hull East, slammed the Government’s role in the turmoil.
“I have it on good authority that Hull prison is on the brink of a riot. And clearly, this chaos has been caused by the government, no one else,” Turner said.
