Hovertravel’s sleek new hovercrafts set to hit the waves next year!
Construction Zooming Ahead
Hovertravel is making great strides with its two brand-new hovercrafts. The vessels are already clearly identifiable as hovercraft, but with a fresh, streamlined look that screams modern tech.
“We’re very happy with the build progress and on track to have both craft in service next year,” says Neil Chapman, Managing Director of Hovertravel.
Big, Bold and Built to Impress
- The standout feature? The massive new ducts – the circular covers surrounding each propeller.
- Standing four metres tall and crafted from carbon fibre, these ducts are a whopping 28% larger than the old ones.
- The wheelhouse has had a complete makeover with bigger, heated glass windows for perfect visibility.
Mounted centrally on the aluminium frame, the wheelhouse gives pilots a crystal-clear 360-degree view for ultimate control.
Smart Design with Clever Clamshell Doors
At the front, you’ll spot the innovative clam-shell covers for boarding — one side has a ramp, the other stairs. These genius doors open for boarding and then close tight to form a waterproof seal, keeping the craft sleek and seaworthy.
Neil adds, “Once built, the craft will undergo a thorough series of trials. Working with Griffon, we’re set to start testing in early 2016 and will keep everyone updated as the trials unfold.”
