Isle of Wight Man to Spend New Year Behind Bars Ahead of Trial

Jamie Simpson, 30, from Sandown, will ring in the New Year locked up as he awaits trial at the Crown Court. The Island man faces a serious charge of grievous bodily harm (GBH).

No Plea Entered at Magistrates

Simpson appeared before the Isle of Wight magistrates but entered no plea. He was told the case was too grave and would be transferred to the Crown Court.

Alleged Bottle Attack Leaves Woman Seriously Hurt

He is accused of assaulting a 21-year-old woman with a glass bottle in Lake Hill, Lake, on December 20. The attack allegedly caused significant injuries to the victim.

Bail Refused, Simpson Remanded in Custody

There was no bail application, and Simpson was remanded in custody. His next court date is set for January 5, 2020.
