Man Jailed for Life Over Brutal Murder of 77-Year-Old in Reading
David Allen Fatally Stabbed in His Own Home
A 77-year-old man was horrifically stabbed to death at his Elgar Road home in Reading last December. David Allen was found lifeless by police on December 1st after a savage attack.
Jacob Trussler Convicted of Murder
Jacob Trussler, 37, with no fixed address, turned up at Mr Allen’s house earlier that day and violently stabbed him multiple times. Police arrested Trussler the very next morning, charging him with murder.
Following a tense trial at Reading Crown Court, a unanimous jury found Trussler guilty of the murder on May 27.
Life Sentence Delivered, Minimum 20 Years
Today, Trussler was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 20 years behind bars. Justice has been served, but the community remains shaken.

“Jacob Trussler has been held accountable and sentenced for the death of David Allen, which occurred on 1 December last year,” stated Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Mike Roddy of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit.
“My thoughts remain with David’s devastated family and friends. We are committed to bringing offenders like this to justice and protecting our society from such harm.”
