West Midlands Police are investigating after two children tragically died in a house fire on Mason Street, Wolverhampton, on the evening of Friday, 24 April. Emergency services responded to the blaze at around 8.30pm, but despite their efforts, both children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire crews from Bilston, West Bromwich, and Bloxwich stations, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the property and rescued the two young children. They immediately administered emergency care on-site, but unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Other Residents Safe

Two other children and a woman had escaped the house prior to the arrival of emergency services. Ambulance staff assessed them at the scene, and they were discharged without the need for hospital treatment.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, three paramedic officers, HART paramedics, a MERIT trauma team, and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Paramedics worked rapidly to provide advanced life support, but both children were confirmed dead shortly after rescue.

Police have cordoned off the severely damaged house as investigations continue to determine the cause of the fire. Officers remain at the scene and have thanked the community for their support.
