Woman Stabbed in Ilford Street as Police Hunt Cyclist Attacker
Knife Assault Shakes Ilford Community
On Friday, 8 July, at around 8.05pm, police were called to reports of a stabbing on St Johns Road, Ilford. Officers found a 27-year-old woman with stab wounds to her back. She was rushed to hospital, where medics confirmed her injuries are serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.
Police Issue Description of Suspect on Bike
Detectives from the Met’s East Area CID are investigating the attack. They revealed a male suspect on a green bicycle, wearing black clothes and a black bag, was seen fleeing towards Meads Lane. He wore a white and black bike helmet.
Chief Inspector Chris Byrne said: “I know this attack, so soon after the tragic murder of Zara Aleena, will alarm Londoners, especially in Ilford. We share your concerns and are working round the clock to keep people safe.”
Police urge anyone who recognises the cyclist or has information to come forward immediately.
Heightened Police Presence After Zara Aleena Murder
Following Zara Aleena’s murder two weeks ago, the Ilford area has seen a spike in police patrols. Officers specialising in violent crime have been deployed. Byrne added: “We’re adapting plans to keep officers visible and ready to assist over the weekend and beyond. Please speak to them if you have concerns or information.”
