Murder Probe Launched After Teen Shot Dead in Islington

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old man was shot dead in Islington.

Shots Fired in Hornsey Rise Gardens

Police were called at 4.24pm on Tuesday, 8 June, following reports of gunfire in Hornsey Rise Gardens, N19. Officers arrived alongside the Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance to find the victim with a gunshot wound to his head.

The young man was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed.

Suspect Arrested, Investigation Underway

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and remains in custody at a north London police station.

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is spearheading the investigation. A post-mortem is set to be arranged soon, with enquiries ongoing.
