Chatham Drug Dealers Slammed with £40k Payback Order

Two Chatham drug dealers, Abdul Halim, 27, and Abdul Hakim, 28, have been hit with a hefty £40,680 payback order after being jailed for running a cannabis and cocaine racket.

Cash and Cannabis Found at Multiple Addresses

Police uncovered 12 bags of cannabis inside ABZ BBQ Kitchen on Batchelor Street. At two nearby Charles Street homes, officers seized £15,000 in cash and 139 grams of cannabis and cocaine. A safe packed with over £45,000 was also discovered during a raid on 18 January 2016.

Jailed and Now Forced to Forfeit Millions

Both men were locked up for two years on 5 December 2017 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cannabis, involvement in cannabis production, and money laundering. Then, on 12 May 2018 at Maidstone Crown Court, they were ordered to pay back £20,340 each under the Proceeds of Crime Act, which strips criminals of their ill-gotten gains.

Police Slam Criminal Lifestyle

“Not only are they behind bars but now they have to pay back this money. I hope it serves as a wakeup call and they realise just how much these bad choices have affected their life,” said Detective Chief Inspector Lee Morton of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
