Knife killer jailed for life after gruesome daylight murder in Hayes
Chased and stabbed victim with two knives
A 23-year-old man hunted down and stabbed another man to death in broad daylight – and he’s now locked up for life with a minimum of 23 years behind bars.
Dellan Charles was convicted of murdering Sean O’Neill, also 23, in a savage attack on Reynolds Road, Hayes, on May 18, 2023. The sentencing took place at Kingston Crown Court on March 17.
“Die, die, die” – chilling final words before fatal stabbing
The court heard how Charles chased Sean after a clash between rival groups. He cornered Sean in a quiet residential street before launching a brutal assault with two knives. Witnesses say Charles shouted “die, die, die” as he stabbed Sean multiple times.
CCTV later showed Charles calmly strolling away, escaping through nearby suburban gardens in a bid to dodge capture. One of the knives used was dumped at a nearby property – a deliberate part of Charles’s attempt to cover his tracks during the year-long manhunt that followed.

Tributes pour in from detective and family
Detective Inspector Kevin Martin said: “Myself and the team pay tribute to Sean’s family who have shown incredible strength during this heartbreaking time. Nothing can bring Sean back, but the man responsible has now been forced to face the consequences of his horrific actions.”
Sean’s family added: “We truly appreciate the efforts of the Metropolitan Police and Crown Prosecution Service for bringing justice. Sean will always be remembered for his big heart, charming smile, and fun-loving personality. We miss him every day.”
Justice served, but knife crime scars London streets
Charles must serve at least 23 years before he can apply for parole. This brutal case exposes the deadly fallout of knife violence. Police vow to continue cracking down on violent crime in London’s communities.
Support remains available for Sean’s family as they mourn their devastating loss.
