Shock attack near Bullring: Man injects woman in leg then flees

Offender strikes without warning

On March 29, a shocking assault unfolded near Birmingham’s Bullring when a man injected a syringe into a 28-year-old woman’s leg. The victim, a complete stranger to the attacker, was left stunned as he quickly fled the scene and caught a bus.

Swift police action leads to arrest

Officers from the Public Protection Unit sprang into action, launching an immediate investigation. After fast-tracked inquiries, they arrested 33-year-old Marwan Ahmmed from Hagley Road, Birmingham, charging him with wounding with intent.

Ahmmed faced Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on April 8 for an initial hearing. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on May 5.

Victim hospitalised and supported

The woman has been hospitalised and is receiving help from specialist officers. Authorities have emphasised the seriousness of the attack and continue to work closely with partner organisations every day to tackle violence against women and girls.
