Man in his 20s fatally shot in Hackney garden – police launch urgent probe

Shots fired in Brackenfield Close

Police were scrambled to Brackenfield Close, E5, at around 11.30pm on Friday, 5 June after reports of gunfire. Neighbours described hearing multiple shots and spotted a blue and white tent set up in the victim’s back garden.

Victim dies at the scene

Officers and paramedics arrived to find a man in his twenties suffering several gunshot wounds. Despite frantic efforts from emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Investigation underway, no arrests yet

Detectives have launched a full-scale investigation to piece together what led to the deadly shooting. A crime scene cordon remains in place as forensic teams comb the area. So far, there have been no arrests.

Police clampdown across Hackney

A Section 60 stop and search order is in effect across Hackney from 12.15am to 3.15pm on Saturday, 6 June, to aid the police hunt for suspects.
