Man charged with murder after victim run over by own car in attempted theft

A man has been charged with murder following the shocking death of 51-year-old Marc Allen, who was allegedly mowed down by his own vehicle during a botched car theft.

Murder charge over driveway horror

Marc Allen died a month after the December 2019 incident on Peareswood Road, south London. He was trying to confront a thief stealing his car when the vehicle struck him. The impact left him in a coma at King’s College Hospital, where he passed away on January 29, 2020.

Accused appears in court

On June 20, 37-year-old Errol Woodger, of Mottisfont Road, Abbey Wood, faced Bromley Magistrates’ Court charged with Marc’s murder and robbery of the vehicle.

Woodger spoke only to confirm his identity. District Judge Sarah Turnock ordered him held in custody and set his Old Bailey hearing for Monday.

More charges for e-scooter offences

Woodger also faces multiple charges for driving an e-scooter while disqualified and uninsured in Plumstead on June 18. These offences will be heard in a separate Bromley court hearing scheduled for Tuesday.

Community in mourning

Marc Allen’s tragic death has left family and locals devastated. As the criminal case unfolds, more about the heartbreaking incident and the attempted theft will come to light.
