Met Police Arrest Man Over Sierra Leone War Crimes

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Team have swooped on a 42-year-old man in Leeds. He’s been arrested on suspicion of war crimes linked to brutal atrocities during Sierra Leone’s Civil War from 1994 to 2000.

Leeds Arrest as Part of Ongoing Probe

The arrest happened on Tuesday, 18 May, under section 51 of the International Criminal Court Act 2001. Police also searched the man’s property as part of the investigation.

Man Released But Investigation Keeps Rolling

The suspect was taken to a Leeds police station but has since been released under investigation. The Met confirm enquiries are continuing into the horrific events from decades ago.
