Man charged and a viable firearm taken off the street

West Midlands say they have taken a viable firearm off the streets after a vehicle was stopped in #Northfield just before midnight on Christmas Eve.

Three occupants made off from the car in Mill Lane and two were apprehended after a foot chase.

A search of the vehicle revealed the weapon.

Jermaine Vassel, aged 19, was charged on Christmas Day with possession of a firearm and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court yesterday (26 Dec) where he was remanded for a further appearance at Crown Court.

A 20-year-old man was released on police bail with strict conditions.
