Man Charged After Brutal Assault on Kent Cops in Broad Daylight

John Ellis, 41, has been hit with three charges following a violent attack on two Kent Police officers in Dartford on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers Attacked During Routine Stop

The drama unfolded around 2.20pm on Suffolk Road when Ellis was stopped as part of an ongoing investigation by another force. He allegedly assaulted a Police Constable and a Special Constable during the encounter.

The PC suffered cuts to his face and needed hospital treatment. Meanwhile, the Special Constable sustained bruising to his neck.

Charges and Court Date Set

Ellis, from Princes Road, Dartford, now faces two counts of assaulting emergency workers and assaulting a constable with intent to resist arrest. He was remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 20 August.

Woman Arrested But Released on Bail

A 25-year-old Dartford woman caught up in the incident was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police, carrying a knife in public, and possessing cannabis. She has since been bailed until 16 September, pending further investigation.
