Three Shops Targeted in Broad Daylight
A suspect is set to face court after a string of knifepoint robberies rocked Gillingham town centre on Monday, 25 November 2024. The daring attacks happened around midday at three separate businesses on Canterbury Street, Green Street, and the High Street.
Workers at each spot were threatened by a man wielding a knife. Police confirm cash was stolen from two of the locations before the suspect fled.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Officers quickly tracked down and arrested a 30-year-old man, Jack Holland-Batt, at a nearby address. A knife was recovered during the arrest.
Holland-Batt, who has no fixed address, now faces multiple charges:
- Two counts of robbery
- One count of attempted robbery
- Two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place
Remanded in Custody Ahead of Court Date
Jack Holland-Batt was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 November.
