Man Charged with Murder After Two Killed in Coventry Road Horror
West Midlands Police have charged a man following the deaths of two men hit by a car in separate incidents on the same day in Coventry.
Emiljano Kasaj, 33, homeless, now faces murder charges over the deaths of pedestrian Leo Moran, 44, and cyclist Joel Carriedo, 47. Both men were struck by the same vehicle on 3 September, in separate locations.
Details of the Tragic Collisions
- Leo Moran was hit on Gosford Street.
- Joel Carriedo was struck on Woodway Lane.
Kasaj is also charged with the attempted murder of a third man injured by the vehicle. He appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and is due in Warwick Crown Court on 9 September.
West Midlands Police confirmed the incidents are not terror-related. Officers continue to support the victims’ families during this devastating time.

“Joel was a loving husband and father of two, who worked tirelessly as a healthcare assistant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire,” said his family. “He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. We thank the community for their support during this difficult time. May he rest in peace and God bless his soul.”
Professor Andy Hardy, chief executive of the hospital trust, added: “His passion for caring for others shone through in everything he did.”
“Leo was an amazing son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He brought laughter and joy to all our lives. We are utterly heartbroken at losing Leo so soon,” said his family.
